The most convenient way to get from Vladivostok (Russia) to Harbin (China) is to take the bus.
Near Vladivostok there are two border crossings to China. One is Pogranichyi – Suifenhe, which is an international border and can also be crossed by foreign tourists. The other border crossing is Poltavka – Dunin which can only be crossed by Chinese and Russians!
There are two bus companies in Vladivostok that go to China:
Primoravtotrans. phone: +7(4232) 450395, adress: Komsomoslkaya street 7
and
Primorye ATP: phone +7(4232 400555), adress: Aleytskaya street 53a
The companies change their routes every month, only one of them crossing the international border (Pogranichyi – Suifenhe).
In September 2010 the ticket price for one way Valdivostok – Harbin was 2360 RUB
The bus starts from Vladivostok at 6:20 am and the bus ride takes about 12 hours.
When you call the bus companies be aware that they normally don’t speak any English!
